2. Bill collecting is a profit making business

Even though bill collectors might not be the nicest people, and even though you might feel a little burdened because you are in debt, this is no reason to run from them.
If you are able to start a payment plan and with them, mailing out the checks that is one of the best methods. It's not always best to have them draw from your checking/savings account, that can cause you to overdraft if you are not careful.
As you are paying off the debt, make different attempts to settle at around half to 75% of your balance and see what they say. If they make an offer too high, then you give a counter offer until you agree. If you can't agree then you can always say call back next month.
